D104: El Remate, Guatemala

After 17 amazing days in Belize, yesterday I moved on to Guatemala. Today I have visited Tikal ruins, one of the most magical places I have seen so far. The picture speaks for itself. Tomorrow will be going to Flores.

D94: Placencia, Belize

Yesterday it was Friday night and I became nostalgic about my Friday nights in Tigh Neachtains (old habits die hard LOL). So I ordered a Guinness brewed in Belize with my dinner. I have to say this was a far cry from the original Irish brewed one. Slainte!!

D92: Punta Gorda, Belize

Today it has been three months since I left Ireland and it feels like I have been gone for months and months. For the last six days I have been exploring Belize which is a quite different country compared to the ones that I have visited so far. It is a small Caribbean place with a population of only 310 thousand, which is a mixture of different ethnic groups like Maya, Garifuna (Black Caribs), Creoles (African mixed with Europeans), mestizos (indigenous mixed with Africans), Chinese (they are everywhere), Indians (from India), ex pats Americans and Canadians. The smell of the pot on the street, the sound of the reggae and the broken Caribbean English makes me feel like I would be in Jamaica.

D86: Tulum Pueblo, Mexico

No wonder that one does not care about what day or date is when is lying on a magical beach with sun and flour white sand and is not constrained by anything or anybody. Then reality kicks in when you realize that you booked your bus and accommodation a day earlier than you thought. So I am saying goodbye to cozy Tulum, Mexico and looking forward to explore more beaches in Belize.

On another note, today I have seen a nice tagline at a coffee shop : “Life is too short for bad coffee.” This is so true! J

D85: Tulum Pueblo, Mexico

Today I discovered another Caribbean gem, the beach of Tulum village. This with its colorful huts (cabanas), turquoise water and  backed by thick vegetation takes your breath away.
